BEWI ClayMaster is a protective system designed to prevent foundation damage caused by clay heave — the expansion and contraction of shrinkable clay soils. These soils contain very fine particles that become highly cohesive when wet and brittle when dry. ClayMaster uses a low-density, compressible expanded polystyrene layer around pile caps, absorbing the movement of the surrounding clay and reducing pressure on ground beams.
