The joist hanger must have at least 3 layers (675mm) of solid blocks above the joist flange. Any masonry around the hanger must be fully set before adding weight.
The hanger’s back plate should sit flat and tight against the wall.
Timber joists should be cut accurately to fit tightly against the back plate (gaps no larger than 6mm). Fix them in place using 30mm x 3.75mm galvanised square twist nails or similar.
